Becoming a member of the Pulaski Area Historical Society helps to preserve our history for our children and grandchildren. It keeps the stories, memories and artifacts of long ago here for all to enjoy. What a wonderful organization to be a part of and support. The third way in which to donate to the Pulaski Area Historical Society is financially. We are a non-profit organization, and therefore your financial contribution can be used as a tax deduction. We use your donations to help with operations, maintenance and in any way that will benefit the future of the Pulaski Area Historical Museum and our society. We love volunteers! There are many ways in which you can help the Pulaski Area Historical Society. Here is a list of areas that we might be able to use your time, talents and energy. If you are interested, please fill out the Volunteer Form, and our Volunteer Coordinator will contact you.
- Assisting with displays.
- Volunteer to help staff the museum during open hours.
- Volunteer to help with special events at the museum, and offsite.
- Assisting with filing and organization.
- Computer skills, to help with cataloging, copying, typing, software, design.
- Videography or photographer to help with taking photos of events.
- Assisting with research.
- Cleaning and organizing.
- Clipping articles, pics and obits from newspapers that have historical value.
- Scanning, copying.
- Spring cleaning at the museum.

Display Your Family History With Our Brick Campaign
The second way that you can donate to our museum is to purchase a brick and have an inscription placed on it.
Display your family’s ancestry at the Pulaski Museum. The Pulaski Area Historical Society is selling bricks that can be engraved with your parents, grandparents and great-grandparents names. It’s a great way to display your family heritage. All proceeds from the bricks go toward maintaining the Pulaski Museum and all of its contents. Print out the form and send in your check with your information that you would like engraved on it.
PAHS Brick Fundraising Campaign is in full force. To date, the museum has sold over 100 commemorative bricks to donators to be displayed on the exterior wall of the museum. The bricks are sold for $100. Each brick is personalized with up to three lines of type. See examples, here.
The fundraiser is an ongoing effort by the PAHS to raise money that will help preserve historical artifacts at the Pulaski Museum. Currently, there is a need for insulation in the building that stands at 121 West Pulaski Street in downtown Pulaski. Climate control is a factor in preservation. Pulaski Area Honors For Community Preservation
Each year the Pulaski Area Historical Society honors a member of Pulaski or the surrounding areas for preservation of heritage.
The 2016 Preservation Award was presented to Van Asten’s Heating & Cooling and Van Asten’s Plumbing for their restoration on their current building at 131 West Pulaski Street in Pulaski. The building was formerly the Stop-Inn, a bar and dance hall that was instrumental in providing polka entertainment for many years, including hosting the Polka Variety Show. Rock Mannigel introduced our four students who work at the museum this year…Emily Johnson, Jenna Socha, Juliah Linzmeyer and Jackie Nassios. They work on Tuesdays from 3:00pm to 5:00pm. It’s a great opportunity for students to gain community service hours.
Blacktop Estimate – Larry Puzen received an estimate from Northeast Asphalt for $7,980.00 to repair the back parking area. He will contact Tony Berna regarding the catch basin and Mike Maroszek. He said Jim Zajac has installed two lights in the back.
Shawano County Fair – Tammy is working on a display for us. She was told we can bring something from the museum. People will always be there and the facility will be locked. Larry said we could possibly display a “house moving” tool or the big ice cream cone. Pam suggested some of our old shoes from Mastey’s. Tammy and Bruce will be setting up on August 31st at 10:00. Anyone who would like to man our display should let Tammy know. They will be reimbursed the entry fee to the fair.
Polka Day Float – Pam suggested asking Jim Zajac if he would drive his antique tractor with a sign for our group. Roger suggested combining our float with the Pioneer Tractor Club. He and Tammy will work on this.
Time Capsule – Claudia said 40 people attended the opening on June 12th and thanked the board members who were there. Harry Krysiak dug up the capsule. Its items will be on display in the museum. They included some pictures, church bulletins, newspapers and other articles. Claudia went to just about all of the businesses in Pulaski asking if they want to put anything in the next one. She approached the schools but no one has responded. There will be an article in the next Pulaski News. It was suggested we keep the capsule open till Polka Days in case anyone wants to include something. Pat & Bob Budz wrote down who and what was given so far. It was suggested we open the next one in ten years.
History Walk – Tammy handed out a brochure regarding this. It will be held on Thursday, May 19th from 5:00pm – 8:00pm. Several Brown County historic sites will be participating. They will be serving food & refreshments. She suggested having small pieces of polish sausage on tooth picks and maybe miniature paczkis with coffee for a “taste of Pulaski”.
Heirloom Plant Sale – Mike debated when it should be held. It was decided May 14 and May 21 from 9:00am to 3:00pm. He will be needing volunteers to help with the sale. He has a new list of available plants and will have the list ready to post at the museum for the Village Wide Rummage Sale. He will also design a flyer and advertise it.
Doug Prentice from State Farm Insurance went over the insurance coverages he has available for our museum. He said we should find out if our current insurance company has a discount structure where we may be eligible for an upcoming discount for having them for...
