Pulaski isn’t just the home of the “Pulaski Polka Days Celebration”. For the sixth year in a row, a passionate group of individuals along with Promote Pulaski, Inc., have helped plan the week-long celebration “Casimir Pulaski Days”. This year, the event will take place, March 3rd-March 10th and is expected to bring thousands of visitors and locals into the small community.

A Kick-off the Celebration is planned for Sunday, March 3, after 10:30 a.m. mass at Assumption BVM Catholic Church. Promote Pulaski, Inc. along with the Pulaski Area Historical Society is hosting the Largest Pie Auction in US History. Sign up to donate a pie here.  Anyone that brings a pie will be entered into a drawing to win prizes at the Pie Auction, and a coupon for the Polka Dances held on Friday and Saturday. A cookie and coffee social will be held following a 10:30 a.m. polka mass at Assumption BVM Catholic Church.  A young local artist, Maria Deau will feature her works of art in a beautiful Polish display. In addition, souvenirs will be available to purchase at the event through the Polish Heritage Society. Assumption BVM Catholic Church is one of the largest known rural churches in America, featuring two 135 foot-tall Spanish-style towers, including 50-foot ceilings showcasing more than 40 Italian-made stained glass windows. 

Businesses will be engaged in weeks prior to help promote the event with the “Where’s Casimir Pulaski Promotion”. Life-size cut-outs of Casimir Pulaski will be strategically placed throughout the Village in different businesses. Individuals can take their photo with Casimir, share on social media using #casimirpulaski and #wherescasimir hashtags. They may also register to win tickets to the dances, and other prizes, in a Live Facebook presentation that will be held at each participating business.

Throughout a two week window, over 300 Pulaski students will learn about Casimir Pulaski, a revolutionary war hero, in a live presentation by historians, Rock and Pam Mannigel at the museum. The Pulaski Historical Museum will also be open additional hours for Casimir Pulaski Days; Friday, March 8th from 1:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. and Saturday, March 9th from Noon to 5:00p.m.

On Tuesday, March 5th, there will be live music, by young (guitarist) Zachary Brzeczkowski in the Cobblestone Hotel Lounge, admission is free, and all are encouraged to attend and enjoy a little listening music.

On Thursday, March 7th, “Spirit Day in Pulaski”, all residents, organizations, businesses and schools are encouraged to wear RED in honor of Casimir Pulaski. The entire Pulaski School District will host a “Polish Lunch” in honor of the revolutionary war hero, Casimir Pulaski.

New this year, is the Casimir Booyah Lunch, which will be held on Friday, March 8th, at Cocktales in Pulaski from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. ($10/per person) Afterward, musicians are encouraged to join the live “Jam Session” at Wicka’s Bar (2-6pm). Following the Jam Session, Aaron Socha’s Live Wire Polka Band, a young group of local musicians are scheduled to provide entertainment at Cocktails Bar in Pulaski, from 7-11pm, admission only $6, under 18 free.

On Saturday, March 9th, Promote Pulaski will be hosting a Historic Bus Tour. Cost is $5 per person, and includes a narrated history tour of Pulaski and surrounding communities. Registration is required to secure your seat on the bus. (seating is limited) Sign up early. On Saturday, March 9th at Zielinski’s Historic Ballroom for “The Big Casimir Polka Dance”.  Kicking off  the evening, The IPA Benefit Band (from Chicago) and celebrating 47 years of polkas, a local family band, the Maroszek Bros. Admission to the “Big Casimir Dance” is $12/person (under 18 free). The bands will be performing from 7-11pm. Polish Sausage, Paczki’s  and Souvenirs will also be available to purchase that evening.

On Sunday, March 10th, the final festivities will be heading out of the village to St. Casimir Church in Krakow, Wisconsin. A mass celebration, followed by a Casimir Hearty Brunch will be served. Cost for the brunch $10 for adults, $5 (kids 6-16) and free (under 5). Polish music following the mass and Maria Deau, a local artist, will provide a Polish Display for all to view.
